WOW!
What a weekend!
It’s already Tuesday evening and I’m still reeling over the weekend that transpired. I don’t think I ever had a weekend as busy and brimming as this one. Well, maybe except Christmas and New Year. But that’s another story. Let’s talk about the weekend that was. Here’s a photo diary!
Enrolment + Trip to the Dentist
We liked Eye Level so much that we decided to go back last Saturday to enrol. Yuri’s excited to attend sessions!
After going to Eye Level, we went to our family dentist’s clinic to have Yuri’s teeth checked. It was Yuri’s very first time to visit the dentist so he wasn’t comfortable sitting on the dentist’s chair yet. So I sat down and sat him on my lap while our dentist prodded at his mouth. He has one cavity that needs filling up and we’re going back this Saturday. Good luck teh.
While our dentist was working on Yuri’s and my sister’s teeth, she, my mum, and I were talking about the elections. Of course we were all for Duterte. Both Dra. Caridad (our dentist) and I were wearing Duterte shirts lol. That afternoon, we were all scheduled to attend the simultaneous singing of the National Anthem, which is also to show our support for our mayor.
Taking Part in a HUGE Political Gathering
After the visit to our dentist, we went home, had lunch, and wore red. Off we went to one of the biggest gatherings our city has ever seen.
Okay, we were so naive. We didn’t anticipate walking to the Crocodile Park grounds. Cars and buses were no longer moving so people started walking. We started walking na rin along with the crowd.
People from all walks of life were there. The crowd was huge! Mama and I had to stick together because we totally lost our neighbours whom we were with. I knew a lot of people who were going there but I didn’t see a single familiar face. But it was still fun!
It was tiring. After the event, we had to walk a little more than 5 kilometres because of the traffic jam. We were lucky because we chanced upon an empty jeepney — the driver picked us up — while most of the people had to walk 7.5 kilometres to the nearest mall. The jeepney we were in was moving at a slow, slow pace but at least we were sitting down. How I wish I could pick up all the people who were walking, especially the senior citizens and the ones with kids, but the jeepney had a very limited capacity.
We left the venue at ten minutes after 5 pm. We arrived home at 9:30. But it was worth it!
Mother’s Day
The next day, Mama and I overslept because there was no muscle in our body that wasn’t aching! When we recovered in the afternoon, we went to a new (well, relatively new) restaurant that opened near us. Rustic Kitchen has a lot of good reviews and I was excited to try it!
I had their tender ribs. It was melt-in-your-mouth soft, the cuts were big, and the dish was tasty overall. Service is also superb! I will give you a more thorough review of the restaurant in another post.

And the sweet ending to our day? The prettiest slices of cake for their mum customers, on the house!
Election Day
Monday was a holiday, as we all know, and my day started early. People in our barangay are notorious (lol) for waking up early, so we knew that if we wanted to avoid the long queues and the heat of the sun, we needed to go out before the sun was fully up.
We started to walk to the school very early but we met on the way some of our senior citizen neighbours. They were already done voting!
We arrived at our local high school before 6 am. However, there was already a long queue in my cluster. Told ya!
Finally, after more than a couple of hours, I was done voting. I was so thankful that my receipt was correct and that I didn’t experience any of the rumoured cheating. Thank God for the peaceful elections!
Later, we went out to eat (no pictures because the dishes at Razon’s were not exactly noteworthy lol). When we went home, I slept from afternoon until evening. When I woke up, Mayor Digong was already leading the race. Praise God!
Yuri’s First Day of “School”
Okay, enough about politics. Today was Yuri’s first day of “school.”
Unfortunately this was our only FDOS picture.
Technically, Eye Level (formerly Enopi) isn’t a school, but since Yuri is not attending any other school, we’re considering it the school. Yes I know I mentioned school three times in one sentence — I’m too lazy to reconstruct.
I was able to sneak in a couple of pictures of the inside of Eye Level’s classroom. Like I promised, I have reserved a blog post just for Eye Level.
Yuri was excited to begin “school” (okay I’ll stop putting school inside quotation marks now). I have absolutely no idea what he did with his teacher inside the classroom, but he went out after an hour smiling, saying that he’s already hungry. I asked him how his class went, he just said it’s good. I asked him how his teacher was, he just said she’s nice.
With that amount of information, I guess his first day at school went well? Haha!
